So of all the places I ate breakfast at in Kona-Kailua, Hawaii, this is my favorite. Kalikala is facing the ocean, so the views are some of the best as you sit in their open air patio full of shade and flowers and see the entire ocean right in front of you. it can't get much better than that. except it can. I decided to try their Lilikoi French Toast. Which is made up of Punalu'u sweet bread, filled with passion fruit-cream cheese, homemade lilikoi (passionfruit) syrup, coconut whipped cream. Choice of bacon or ham or Portuguese sausage. I opted for the portuguese sausage and it was all so amazingly Hawaiian and amazingly delicious. What is punalu'u sweet bread you ask? Punaluʻu Sweet Bread is a traditional Hawaiian sweet bread that originated from the Punaluʻu Bake Shop in Nā'ālehu, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is known for its soft, fluffy texture and slightly sweet flavor, which makes it a beloved treat among locals and visitors alike. This visitor loved it! As I sat there eating my breakfast and enjoying the ocean view, I had thoughts of all the things in did on my trip to Hawaii. I even talked to someone who just arrived and I shared some places that I visited, since they wanted to know must-sees. This was a highlight of my trip and I am so thankful I left it for the last morning of my stay. It is not far from King Kamehameha Hotel in Kona. Just a very short walk. I will forever remember the the Lilikoi french toast and the Kona coffee as one of the best meals I had in my life. Not just because the food was great, but the ambiance, the views, the service, and the people. If you are in Kona, Hawaii, I highly recommend this place. Aloha

Host was incredibly welcoming and we were seated immediately. French toast & açaí bowl were amazing. A true taste of Hawaii. Our server Julie was outstanding. Best service we have had on our trip. We highly recommend stopping here when visiting Kona.

Nice little breakfast, service was great. I would come here just to have coffee and a pastry, great view of the harbor. On a nice day, it would be hard to leave

We spontaneously stopped here after a morning at the farmer's market...best decision ever!!! It's all outdoor seating with a nice view on the main strip in Kailua-Kona. The prices are fair and our waitress was real nice. They have easily the best waffles I've ever had in my entire life!!!! Wow! Every element of the dish was done so perfectly, and I say perfect because I could have ate the waffle, syrup and whipped cream individually and still been blown away. The country breakfast was also very well cooked, I enjoyed it. However, the waffles are 100% the way to go! We went back on Monday and they were closed...when I say my heart broke I will absolutely make a point to come back. I hope this never changes.

Starting off to say food was great, we had brunch and it was delicious. The view was pretty and the mimosa was good too! Now service was lacking, we didnt get water, the staff was confused about silverware; if it was clean, if there was any, idk it was weird, they brought one table plastic knives and one server took off to find more? Then the manager was there (im assuming?) discussing fairly inappropriate employee activity on the phone and with the circulating staff; loudly talking about fireable Offenses. So mixed bag here haha we liked it enough but also wouldnt come back but again food was good!

Family owned beautiful business on the beach in Kona. Amazing selection of authentic Hawaiian breakfast dishes. Fresh Hawaiian pineapple accompanied each dish. The waffles had real coconut inside and the dipping sauce was amazing. Very pleasant servers and hostesses make this place a wonderful experience

Kalikala Cuisine is such a great place for breakfast and brunch! There are such wonderful views of the Kona Bay, and there are plenty of wooden tables and chairs along with two long tables overlooking Ali'i Drive and the water. Staff and service are pretty good and efficient, though the location is pretty popular and can fill up quickly, so I made sure to get here by opening time. The food is awesome and delicious as well! I had their Hawaiian Waffles which are infused with pineapple and coconut, and comes with one egg (I opted for the scrambled egg), choice of meat (bacon, ham, or Portuguese Sausage), and also comes with pineapple slices, homemade lilikoi syrup, and coconut whipped cream. Yes, full disclosure, I am a vegetarian but will on occasion still consume meats, and this is one of the few exceptions. But I love the breakfast menu and look forward to trying their other dishes on the next visit. Last but not least, I got to meet and pet Kalikala Cuisine owner's Australian Shepherd dog and official restaurant greeter, Maile Lei! That was definitely the main highlight of my breakfast!

Well, the view is great! The service is slow and scattered. The food is pretty good. The owner/manager is friendly (and so is his dog) and our server was kind. I don't think I need to come back to this spot... but it was worth trying once. There are just so many places for tourists to chow down... and I didn't find anything here that was spectacular.
